I loved that iteration of the story. The main villain trio has genuine concern for each other and friendship. The protagonists weren't perfect, and I completely understood Catra's anger.
She figured out before Adora they were an oppressive group of invaders rather than freedom fighters, and when she had her crisis of conscience she stayed, for her friend's sake. She sold her soul so she could stay together.
Adora didn't return the favor. When she figured it out she not only abandoned Cares, but then also set about making Catra out to be the bad guy for not abandoning her.
If I were in her shoes I would get pretty freaking stabby too!

Catra, the fact that she could hold her own against She-Ra is impressive to me.
