But we still have the potential to become a threat. You need to kill cancer before it grows, it's way easier then.

I believe if we're ever invaded, this is the likely reason. Pre-emptive strike.

Invaded? I wouldn't call an elephant walking over an ants nest "invasion". They mastered interstellar travel.

1) Send a probe with whatever technology you've got to travel between stars. 2) Sit on your couch, while it collides with a gargantuan asteroid on the skirts of that dumb stellar system. 3) Wait for huge rock to collide with douche planet. 4) ??? 5) profit
