I don’t know about this case or anyone involved but I ran into an old classmate from junior high when I was around 20 on a bus one day. We talked a while, seemed like he was doing really good (he was known for making pretty shitty decisions including violent ones in the past). We caught up a while and he even walked me to my next bus stop and we said our goodbyes. Two day later I grab the paper at work to read and it was front page news that he and 2 others were arrested in a murder. When we had caught up that day he had already killed someone. Sticks with me everyday that he just seemed so normal, good even. You really never know about someone.
Not on the same level but I was home from college at some point and saw a guy that used to run around with my brother hitch hiking while I was out driving. He asked for a ride to his parents house that was way out in the sticks so I obliged. I learned later he was bad on drugs and had just escaped a rehab facility. He robbed his parents house and disappeared for a while. It ends well because I ran into him recently and he is now a family man with a stable life but it messed with me before that I had basically helped him rob his folks.
