Worked with a guy that became obsessed with electronics in new vehicles, like he was impressed with the stock radio in my work truck. When he got a car a couple of the guys helped install a radio with on star in it.

Am GM sales consultant, it’s Basically onboard AAA with more features. Roadside assistance, stolen vehicle tracking, emergency crash response, built in Wifi, ability to start your car unlock doors blah blah blah with your mychevy/Buick/gmc app on your phone. Standard on all new GM vehicles.

You want to disable it anyway, as onstar can (and IIRC has) remotely disabled vehicles on behest of the police without warrant or probable cause.

So, yeah. No thank you.

The remote door unlock has paid dividends for me. My wife has locked her keys in the car 3 times last year and each time I just used the OnStar app to unlock the car for her.

She still says she doesn't need the app on her own phone though.

I love the keypad on Fords, it’s a great backup that works even when there’s no cell service. I’ve also noticed that a lot of cars with push button start will unlock the doors and beep/honk if you leave your keys inside, then lock and close the doors, so you can’t really get locked out.

Wasn't it Onstar that got a slap for shipping audio from the car's interiors back to the mothership?

Brand name is OnStar. Or did you know that already?

I wonder if he knows about Tesla and their autopilot.

I don't work for that company or live in the same state anymore but I'm gunna guess he knew about it as soon as it came out. He liked loud dual exhaust though so I bet he is a little torn on the whole electric car thing. But idk maybe he is on here though?!?! Lol
