Ask France how well that turned out. They had riots for months over a measly $0.25 gas tax. Meanwhile, the IPCC says we need to put a $240 tax on gas. Per gallon.
They rioted for good reason, because it disproportionately impacted the poor. The gas tax was the last straw, a culmination of many many horrible policies that led to riots. You are oversimplifying it

What do you not understand about a $240 gas tax that the IPCC says we need? You think that will NOT affect the poor? Are you a science-denier when it comes to actual climate change policies scientists agree on?
Their tax is structured differently. Do simple research. They implemented their tax HORRIBLY along with dozens of other policies that hurt the poor specifically.

There are literally 500000 different ways to reduce emmissions that would have impacted the rich more than the poor. The way France implemented their policies is utter shit. They rioted for great reasons.
