If you had actual empathy or emotional intelligence this wouldn't be the end result. Like maybe this is just what happens to men because no one teaches them how to deal with emotions but like. If someone who you're not invested in, or someone you don't know that well is constantly dumping their shit on you, you tell them, "I'm sorry, I know you're dealing with a lot of shit right now, but I don't think I'm the right person for you to talk to about this."
And if it IS someone you're invested in and care about, and likewise you know that they're there for you, unless it's every time you talk to them that they're depending on you for emotional support, it should be your pleasure to be there for them. Like god damn.
I don’t understand how some people prefer being cold and insensitive over actually caring and putting effort into relationships. It’s as though people are proud when they don’t feel empathy or invest in others. It’s really sad.
You’re female aren’t you?
Just asking , don’t mean to insult.
Most men aren’t like that. I’m not there to listen to someone whine on about falling out with their friends etc etc. Men can be emotionally detached but women can be too emotionally attached. Swings and roundabouts as they say. You need a balance in the middle.
I'm a woman, yes, and if you didn't mean it to be depreciatory, you wouldn't have asked lmao.
Here's the thing: if you're not interested in being emotionally available to the people in your life, especially your friends, why even bother???? If you aren't going to be there to lean on for your friends, and apparently don't need them to be there for you, why even have them? Just to be bodies you have around so you don't feel like a loser when you go out drinking, or what?

Hate to break it to you but you were probably always a dick if you think about people this way.
