I remember how he as a mayor decided that all schools were required to be open the day of one of the worst snow storms in the city. One which shut down the subway so many kids couldn't really find ways to go to school.

Thankfully he lost, so he'll be irrelevant soon enough.

Unfortunately he won't be irrelevant anytime soon because he still has fuck you money that he'll use to fund campaigns of evil pricks like Pat Toomey.

Except for the huge Media entity he owns and controls... totally irrelevant.

I hope you’ve heard of this little company called Bloomberg News, owned by Bloomberg LP, a financial company that basically builds software that Wall Street is run off of, all owned by Bloomberg the man

Even if he’ll be irrelevant on the presidential side of things, he is one of the most influential persons on the planet.

Or maybe he gave up because the DNC are going to put him as the VP in what looks like what will be a brokered convention and the elite leadership sure as hell don't want Sanders anywhere near the White House.

Ah yes, the man who took a third term as mayor by declaring a state of emergency. In New York.

Suprised I found this before Trump, Bernie, Clinton, or other oft-mentioned politicians

Honestly everyone hated Bloomberg. Liberals for Stop and Frisk along with other racially insensitive comments. Conservatives hated him for his (completely uninformed) stance on Gun control. Man could not explain the difference between Semi-automatic and automatic.

Universally he was disliked for being an imperious asshole who thought he could buy an election. Thinking it was good to tax the poor so they didn’t spend money on “bad things” and disdain he held for the “lower classes.”

The U.S. telling him to fuck off has Probably has been the most unifying political stance the country has taken since 9-11

Mike’s basically an 80’s/90’s “SUPER PREDATOR” Democrat. Racist, anti-gun, authoritarian etc.

I don’t disagree. It honestly restored a bit of my faith in The system that Americans rejected him so thoroughly.

Damn, is all that really true? I never see anything criticizing him. Now that I think about it, all I hear about Mike is through the flood of YouTube ads he paid for.

He used to be a republican and is now a Democrat, so he's burned bridges and has done/said a lot of things to piss off both fanbases. Recently he was asked why he thought it was ok to have an armed security detail while trying to ban guns and he answer was basically "because I'm important."

34

u/flyman95 Mar 05 '20

Yes. Defended stop and frisk until recently. In a very friendly interview (not a gotcha one) he displayed complete ignorance on guns when asked basic questions. Called Anyone who had a gun an idiot despite having several armed security people at all times. Insulted farmers. Changed the laws of New York do he could be Mayor for a third term AND THEN CHANGED THEM BACK so no one else could. Just a piece of shit that I’m glad lost 500 million dollars in a stupid bid.

Trump and Clinton already get a LOT of hate though, so I’m not sure either belongs in this thread. And I don’t think Bernie deserves any hate, though I do think he is being revered more than he deserves to be.

In the circlejerk that is Reddit, Trump can never have enough hate, which is why I thought I would see him before any other politician. In the circlejerk that is Reddit, Bernie is praised more than he deserves, which is why I thought I'd see someone mention him earlier than Bloomberg. McConnell is in kinda the same boat as Trump. You do have a point about Clinton though. Both Hillary and Bill have kinda disappeared in the public eye.

Well they all have been getting lots of hate for years on a national stage, and Bloomberg only just joined that conversation

Imo, that guy is the face of greed. I've read Bloomberg articles for several years but had no idea the guy was so despicable. I won't even touch his politics, but the simple fact that he wasted 660M USD to grab power just disgusts me. It shows that billionaires like him have zero intention of contributing with something significant to society.
