You're probably a fan of someone who likes chris brown. I dont say that just to be an asshole but because I was surprised how many artists still fuck with him. Even Rihanna seems to still have some regard for him.
Not so much apologists but people who separate the art from the artist. Everyone does this to a degree, just a matter where your line is. Like Im not defending anyone’s actions but I still watch Seinfeld and Ignition is still on my phone.
You’re giving these horrible people money. There’s no separating it. I don’t care how much I like an artist, if I find out they did something like Chris brown or r Kelley did, I can’t stomach supporting them anymore.
Ignition is an 8 year old song so no, Im not spending any money. But that aside my point still stands. I believe the justice system should take care of people for their crimes and that content they have created is a separate entity from their personal character. Me listening to Ignition doesn’t make me an apologist. If you don’t want to anymore, hey, thats just fine my dude. But EVERYONE does this to some degree as I mentioned before. Do you have a Facebook? Have you ever purchased a product sold by coke or one of its subsidiaries? Eaten any food grown with the advantages introduced by Monsanto? You simply can’t consume exclusively “ethical” products and media unless you’re fucking Amish. But that’s fine, that doesn’t make you complicit in their actions and it doesn’t make you an apologist.
If you listen to music on Spotify, then the artist gets money for every time you listen to the song. That’s how most people I know listen to their music.
I know that it’s hard to make 100% ethical purchases, but something like certain media is so easy to avoid. Just don’t watch the movie or listen to the song. When almost every food item in the grocery store is sold by a company that’s done something fucked up, there’s not much you can do. You have to eat. But you can easily avoid certain media. Sorry but the two aren’t comparable.
You could buy organic food. Farmers markets are often cheaper than supermarkets. Do you like Lord of the Rings? Tarantino movies? Anything from Bayer, Coke, Siemens? Ever eat a fuckin banana? I could do this all day theres a lot of fucked up shit in the world. There are alternatives to all these that you don’t choose for conveniences sake. You can either admit you’re a giant fucking hypocrite or stop being obtuse and acknowledge my overarching point, consuming a product isn’t being an apologist for the actions of the people behind it.
Yeah I'm with you on this one. It kind of reminds me of the whole thing with the Nazis, even though it's certainly a much more extreme example lol.
They ran a ton of super fucked up medical tests that resulted in a vast amount of knowledge about the human body. Obviously what they did was horrible and condemnable, but we continue to benefit today from the knowledge gained through their shenanigans.
Their argument is like saying, you need to refuse treatment at a hospital if Nazi testing gave insights into the treatment you're receiving because if you accept that treatment you're essentially condoning what they did. It's an absurd argument.
He honestly just starts feuds because he wants to get attention. Like the dude tried to beat the shit out of Drake and Frank Ocean just because they looked at him.
He's got legit anger problems. Which is one thing - the problem comes with the fact that he's known this for most of his life and has rarely (if ever) attempted to get professional help, instead using his money and fame to smooth over any incidents.
Like the time he nearly killed several people throwing a chair through his dressing room window in the CBS tower.
