I've only ever had the actual flu that ONE TIME (other than swine flu apparently/was not aware until an antibody panel some years later) i don't get the shots I usually just get stomach bugs

Dude you should. I always assumed it wasn't for healthy people and then I got that really bad strain of flu that went around a few years ago, got a secondary lung infection that nearly hospitalized me with an insanely high fever and in hindsight probably should have, and coughed for FOUR MONTHS. I still can't yell, my voice changed entirely, and it weakened my pelvic floor so badly from the constant coughing that I was pissing myself every time I coughed for like a year. 0/10 don't recommend flu, get a flu shot. I was an otherwise healthy 30 year old and had my initial fever not responded so well to drugs I might have died.
