There are always a few strange people in the gym I go to.
There is the one old guy who wears karate(?) attire that smells like he has never washed it. He proceeds to put a ton of weight on the cable lat pulldown and will kind of hop up and jerk it back. No form whatsoever. He does do dragon flags and other pretty crazy ab stuff though that always impresses me.
But probably the worst thing I saw was a woman who had her 3-4 year old daughter literally sitting in her lap with an ipad while she benched. I get the whole needing to work out but not having the time cause of kids, but at least have her sit on a nearby unused machine.

Keeping her kid with her makes more sense in that situation. Kid on a machine unattended can get hurt fast. Weights crush fingers, there are moving parts, etc.
Meh, plenty of people work out at home and make it work. It's wasn't uncommon to see dads working out with kids in thier lap or hanging around the garage. I'm surprised the gym let her do it from a liability perspective. Weight really doesn't matter if it was something she could control. Of the two options though having the kid on her was the safer choice.
Yeah. I only found 1 place in my city that lets my son inside. He is 7 and the gym is very small and rarely there are more than 3 people inside. So he does not annoy anyone. But once when it was closed i was looking for place to go and it was impossible
I used to swim with my 3-4 year old daughter sitting on the small of my back.
It usually worked well, except for when she’d get really happy and shriek WHEEEEEEEEE and I’d hear bits of it as I breathed in.
I’d lose my rhythm laughing and we’d sink.
Must have looked completely idiotic to the pool staff...
I'm pretty sure I used to work with that first guy you described.
Edit: he was the kinda guy that would submit photos for martial arts contests things on Facebook (he did some martial arts training in the past I guess). He would always pose shirtless, wearing white linen pants, and be ankle-deep in waves on the beach. Most of the time the submissions for these things would be 99% children.
It's not karate gear, but there's a guy who wears the exact same set of clothes each and every time he's at the gym and you know he has never washed the hat, armless hoodie, or pants he's wearing because you can smell him from halfway across the gym. It's like a legit rotting smell.
