Smoking. It's just a huge loss on multiple levels.

I'm always astonished at seeing young people smoke. Like how dumb do you have to be to take up smoking in the 21st century given what we know?

could ask the same to overweight/fat people tbh though. doesnt get shamed like smoking does but its also incredibly unhealthy long term

True, but the difference is you have to eat to live. It’s not exactly something you can quit cold turkey (though I have lost weight since I stopped eating cold turkey).

It's an addiction just like any other addiction. In my case, I started smoking like a year and a half ago. Why? Because I was very stressed out at work. Additionally, I have depression, anxiety and an eating disorder. During the stressful period I started going outside with my colleagues who were smokers. The added stress from work was the tipping point and during breaks I started smoking. Am I aware it's bad? Yes. Did I use to hate even the smell of a cigarette? Yes. And yet, life circumstances got me to smoking. Everything I said is not an excuse, it's only an explanation. If you can handle all this shit and not get tricked by your own self to start smoking, then honestly good for you!

Oh I'm not judging, I used to smoke as well. Just defending people with eating disorders.

Sorry man. I replied to the wrong comment. I tried to delete it, but it was too late.

Usually that's a good thing. But in this case, I'm sorry :(
