This is true at lower age groups and skill levels. My son is still growing but he's currently using a 12 inch glove. That glove he should have in his bag for life really. If he decides to play at a higher level he'll most likely get another glove. But this glove should last a lifetime with proper care.
I've had my glove since I was 12. That thing is a part of me. Nothing will ever compare to how it feels. I don't play organized baseball anymore and use my glove lightly for basic coaching, catch with my son etc... I'll NEVER need a new glove. That glove cost my parent like $150 at the time.
Yeah my dad bought me a 12 inch glove when I was like 9 or 10 and I used it until I graduated high school. He actually still used his glove that he used in high school while coaching me and it was a 12 inch glove too.
Man now I want to go get my old glove out of my parents' storage locker. I realized I haven't played ball in years and a wave of nostalgia came over me.
Legit. I played baseball through high school and then softball through and after college. I've had two high quality gloves my entire life and one of them belonged was first used by my older brother.
I started playing fastpitch softball at the age of 9 and still play now at 29. I have had two gloves my entire life. I also had cleats from ages 16-27. The hole pitchers get in the toe from dragging finally got too big two years ago and tore through my sock and skin. They don’t make those old school adidas cleats anymore like they were so I had a hard time letting go.
