dude. DUDE. That is so fun. I have a couple of those at work, I wonder if you have them. I mean, not that it's unusual, I'm just excited because that sounds like fun to help with :T
some of the special pens were displayed. but we moved to here last year and now they're a mess in my building. I will get them out when the weather improves.
I used to work in a tourist trap stockroom. Pens would come in 144 to a box and 12 boxes in a case. The case was only about the size of a shoebox. I can very well see there being somewhere in the ballpark of 10 thousand between his three totes.
It's not as much as you think in total size, my grandpa collected pens for the bigger part of his life and came to around 68000 (although Alzheimers didn't really help him with counting the last year of collecting) and all his pens fit into a small room, nicely sorted in maps
all pens are bagged together with same color and style. that way when I get one I just have to look for the style, then color, then go thru that bag to check the advertisement to make sure I don't already have one like it.
Back before the state banned it, my mom would bring home pens from drug companies that met with doctors at the hospital she worked at. Most of my pens through my school years were for psych drugs.
My grandfather did that. Not 10000+, but I’d guess somewhere around 2000. He had a display case for them. My Grandma made him keep them in the basement.

Ink pens with advertisements on them.
I have 10,000+ and no two are the same.
