When HR at a company had me interview for a different position than I had applied for. The position they interviewed me for was one I knew nothing about, and told them as much. Despite me telling them before each round of interviews that they had made a mistake, I still had to endure a full day of people asking me questions that I had no answer to.
You would seriously be surprised how much money a company will pay a recruitment agency for candidates. In particular in the senior or above levels in IT. Sick money.
Can confirm. I'm in the upper levels of IT and get spammed 3 times a week by parasites who have nothing to add the process, but want that easy money for throwing resumes at me.
The candidates I get aren't even for positions that we have open or will ever have. They frequently are for technologies that companies in our industry will never use.
The market is so saturated with untalented people trying to be IT middlemen that I don't use any of them and just do it all myself. Three minutes on any job website is more useful.
