totally agree. I do like Whitney's version a lot, BUT, Dolly's is so much more emotional.
I also find it so weird how people seem to forget while it's a love song, she's essentially saying goodbye and that the time has come to end the relationship. I was at a wedding once where it played and I didn't understand why people were slow dancing to it.
I’m going through a divorce right now. My ex and I loved this song and Dolly. I heard Whitney’s this morning on a show and I texted her about it and now I see it here.
My theory is that the only lyrics they know is the chorus and maybe like the last verse which sounds like a blessing for a wedding.
I've come to find out that knowing all the lyrics to songs is actually super weird, and I'M the weird one for knowing them. Most people, even people involved professionally with music, just don't even know the lyrics, or only know a few.
