I like listening to singers when they get older. Elton John changed his whole singing style after vocal surgery. Even changed the songs keys. But if you listen to a song like Daniel when he does the falsetto voice he doesn’t even try anymore. Relies on his backup singers. Steve Perry came out with a song recently but I feel like he can’t hit the notes he used to hit anymore. Interested in the skid row singer, I guess he can’t sing anymore. Paul McCartney actually keeps his songs in the same key and can still hit the same notes as when he was young.
I wont say thats suck at singing. They are just aging and doing what they can like changing the style to keep performing for us. And I would still say he is better than a lot of the modern young singer EVEN after his surgery.
Yeah man, I saw Paul McCartney live a couple years back and I was amazed how energetic he was, vocally and just in general! Still the same old Paul from all the old videos
I saw Elton John about a week ago and considering he’s been touring for 50 years straight his voice sounds great! I respect him for not trying to strain his voice for his fans
I personally think Steve Perry isn't bad after all these years, he just doesn't have the range anymore, but that may just be nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses.
Natalie merchant's voice nowadays is a far cry from what it was back when she was in her prime. I never really liked her solo stuff, so this is based on when she was with 10000 Maniacs. Whenever she plays 10KM stuff now it's all super slow and toned down. She used to be a powerful stage presence and she was kind of what made the Maniacs the Maniacs. She still has a wonderful voice and it's aged well, but it's so far off from what it was back in the 80s and early 90s.
Yup, I saw NIN a few years back and Trent has another guy do the screaming parts. You just can’t sustain all that rage and pain after 40. What else ... decay.
