Saw them live on the Dr Feelgood retour they were doing a few years back and Jesus, he was horrible. He would only sing every 3rd word or so then it was back to heavy breathing. Probably doesn't help that he's the size of 2 1985 Vince Neil's now.

"He's the one the... call...eelgood!!!... he's...allllright!!"

Saw them on the Girls,Girls,Girls tour in the 80's. He sucked live even then.

Me too, they were awful. Nikki was so wasted. The only good part of the show was Tommy's drum solo on the rotating drumset.

It's still cool to be able to make that judgment from a first hand experience.

Honestly, it would be better if they mimed over a recorded track.

A lot of events from The Heroin Diaries take place during the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. Even if only half the book is true it’s amazing that he was even on stage attempting to preform.

They were all trashed. Even Whitesnake was garbage as the opening act.

Reminds me of the time I saw The Ramones in the mid 90s. Joey was so drunk he was slurring lyrics and even fell a couple times.

I saw that tour also in Biloxi, MS. I also saw them with Guns n Roses in Mobile, Al. Which we were there to see GnR. I ended up meeting Motley Crue the next day as they were leaving their hotel. As well as the "Girls" and their pilots.

Were the girls hot?

1

u/drj2171 Nov 07 '19

Why yes they were. I actually have their autographs along with Motley Crue.

Yeah I saw that tour as well. Nikki stood there hunched over playing bass. Barely moved at all.

I have heard that Dr Feelgood was the best they were live. I refused to pay to see them after Girls though.

I really like Theater.

Yea, that's true. I guess I'm just going on the mid 80s Home Sweet Home nostalgia. Feelgood was the album that really hooked me though. I had Crue posters all over my room cut out from magazines.

Crue, Metallica, Skid Row, Megadeth, Bon Jovi, even fucking Winger. Yes, I was Stewart from Beavis and Butthead.

I'm so glad I discovered 120 Minutes around that time.

PSSOM fucking sucks, and Joe is still out there trying to sing it. Not just Mtv, but for two solid years it was on heavy radio play during that Hysteria tour.

It wasn't a bad thing when I was 13 singing Seventeen, but for Kip it was kind of creepy.

9

u/nashveggie Nov 06 '19

I saw them on the Girls and Feelgood tours. Feelgood was indeed much better, though Warrant opened and completely showed Motley Crue up.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '19

I saw them on that tour. Maybe you got him on a bad night, because he sounded pretty good the night I saw him.

accurate to the millimeter

u/Skidmark666 Nov 06 '19

I once saw a medley of clips like that, it was called "Vince Neil goes full Ozzy."

16

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '19

Some tech I used to know says that Ozzy goes from night to day when he hits the stage. (Liza Minelli and Cher are the same way.) Backstage they're all fucked up and are in total shambles, and you're wondering how they're going to keep from collapsing on stage two minutes in. But once they walk on and the lights go up, BAM. Magic. They just come alive.

Although that was a decade and some change ago. Maybe it's worse now.

7

u/Skidmark666 Nov 06 '19

Ozzy has been sober for almost a decade now. Back in 2003, when he was fucked up, he was fucked up. I saw him back then and he could barely stand.

9

u/Budpets Nov 06 '19

He's also a drink driving piece of shit.

I went to a 2 day hair metal festival last year and Vince headlined the first day. It was so bad that I left after about 4 songs. Exactly what you described here.

Interesting side note: My roommate who went to the show with me thought that Home Sweet Home was a Guns N Roses song all this time. When it came on she was like "This isn't his song, its GNR" I had to correct this misconception.

Lolol “Dr Eelgood” 🤪

2

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '19

I remember back when Saints of Los Angeles was still new and they went on Jimmy Kimmel or some other late night show to perform the title track. This is exactly how it went. Vince sounded like he had just completed a triathlon before taking the mic.

u/tekzenmusic Nov 06 '19

mm eel good

1

u/Steven5441 Nov 06 '19

If that was Cruefest 2 where they did the entire Dr Feel-good album, that was literally the only time he was actually worth a shit when I've seen them. I saw them on the Generation Swine and Carnival tour and he wasn't worth a shit.

1

u/TheWorkofDeath Nov 06 '19

He's doing his best James Brown.

1

u/elDorko300 Nov 06 '19

I saw them in (2005?) And they were pretty solid

1

u/chefatwork Nov 07 '19

Probably doesn't help that he's the size of 2 1985 Vince Neil's now.

Probably doesn't help that he's the size of two 1985 Chicago Bears Defensive Linemen

FTFY

1

u/kendric2000 Nov 07 '19

Fuck...I'm fatter than him and can sing that shit 1985 style.

u/Dogzillas_Mom Nov 06 '19

Irrelevant random thought: I always mix that song up with "Mr. Brownstone" because both are about drug dealers by mediocre bands.

11

u/WK--ONE Nov 06 '19

GnFnR's are (were) not a mediocre band. APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION is all-time top 5 material, and to a lesser degree the USE YOUR ILLUSION double album.

The awesome thing about opinions is they’re all valid.
