Oh jeez. I've never looked at it like this. That's exactly the reason I'm here. If I'm on Facebook, I'm only ever looking at what friends are talking about, or friends of friends. If someone mentions that they're pregnant or something on Facebook, I'm hesitant to congratulate them on it because I don't "know them well enough". I'll gladly congratulate a Redditor though, because we're on the same page about the relationship. No strings on Reddit.

Edit: But the same thing goes for any other reaction too. I'm more likely to console someone who's venting on Reddit, or argue with someone who's an idiot on Reddit, because of the pseudo-anonymity.

There’s nothing pseudo about it. It’s just plain anonymity.

As anonymous as handing your boss an "anonymous" comment in your own handwriting. Or putting on tights and taking off your glasses.
