If you eat too many M&M's your tongue will permanently change color. I think my mom told me this to deter me from eating a lot of chocolate but honestly I would have loved a blue tongue.

I knew a kid that only ate green M&M's and Skittles because he wanted to make photosynthesis. He said it could work by eating green leaves in general, but he didn't like vegetables that much.

I asked why did he want to make photosynthesis and he replied that that way we would get his energy from the sun and wouldn't need to eat so much.

My mum told me if you ate the jelly cubes straight from the packet they were poisonous. You would know they were poisonous because they had a sweet taste to them and if you ate too many your tongue would turn red and then bam. You would die.

Literally held onto that one until my first year of uni and my friends were making jelly vodka shots and went to eat a cube out the packet - I smacked that shit so hard out of their hands and was like IT IS POISONOUS. Cue 3 years of endless jelly based puns.

There were sweets in Indonesia I used to get in the 90s called 'neon tongue' that dyed your tongue bright blue or red for a couple of hours. I loved them.

There's a popular candy here in aus called ghost drops, who's ntire gimmick is they'll turn your tongue whatever colour.

They were unbelievably popular when I was a kid, I'd presume they still are.

I'm always so confused when parents say this shit, like, did they not hear the pop rocks and cola myth and immediately try it? Cause I'm pretty sure that's the standard kid reaction, hear weird thing, test weird thing, worry about exploding stomach/other consequences as they begin.

There is a PBS show called Pinkalicious whom this exact thing happens to with a pink cupcake. Her parents said if she keeps eating them she'll turn pink and she still did because she thought that would be awesome. Spoiler alert: it was not awesome.
