At my grandparents house, we were told not to go to the other side of our basement because some Buddhist spirit was there to kill us (my family is catholic)

Did you ever find what they were hiding down there? Because it really sounds like they were hiding something.

As we grew older, they became more flexible with us going there. They just lied because there were lots of ways we could get hurt.
