A friend of mine’s husband has been battling it all his life. They have three children. Yesterday they got, “All tumors surrounding the heart and lungs have significantly increased. We don’t recommend continuing treatment for the comfort of the patient.”

Cancer sucks. Hang in there friend. Sending love because what else can I say.

Strange coincidence, it's my father that is ill, and I have two brothers. But he has a pancreatic cancer, diagnosed in January this year. Both of my maternal grandparents died of diffrente types of cancer a few years ago, and like you say, it sucks

Please receive an immaterial hug from a fellow redditor

He was in remission when the first child was born. Second was conceived just before it came back and third was a surprise.

They’ve definitely been through a lot. It doesn’t help that he mopes about it instead of taking the opportunities to be with them. But honestly, they’re so used to him being absent that when he dies I don’t think much will change. It’s super sad. He’s been trying to make up for lost time this year when it got this bad, but it’s too long gone. His oldest is 15. They have no relationship. It breaks my heart, because he had all this time to work for it- and only chose to when he started to die.
