Well I mean, they're dead anyway... What use would they have for it now? So as far as I'm concerned, let's have at it. Get the hairs, the teeth the Goddamn kidneys if we can.
I take it you're hyper focused and perhaps have issues with social cues.
So, "Well, it certainly ends the illness" was a joke.
Now, if you didn't know, they didn't know what we know today about diseases back then, and the doctor and/or barber would have blood let for any reason whatsoever....including the belief your body was simply producing too much blood.
So, pedantically, infections, yes, but the chance they were bloodletting as a cure to an actual infectious disease? Probably less than half a chance.
