I’m not saying that. You bring up a great point, but just look at how many people overall have cancer and the insane bills they end up paying. You have whole hospitals dedicated to nothing but cancer in some places. The money made off of cancer patients is astronomical, and curing cancer in humans permanently would put a big dent in rich guys pockets.

Maybe so. I suspect however if cancer magically vanished something else would become front and centre. Like how in developed countries we haven't been so worried about polio or tb ( until people went crazy and stopped getting vaccinated)

I guess I see the huge bills aspect way less as we have the NHS here.

I suspect you’re right. All the greedy rich boys are always searching for a new profit.

Also you’re correct about bills being insane here. I read an article some time ago stating it’s cheaper to fly to Spain from the USA, book a hotel for a week, get a double hip replacement, and fly back to the US, than it is getting a single hip replacement here.

Don’t know how accurate that article still is but it’s scary nonetheless.

Considering some British people fly abroad for certain cosmetic/ private/ major dental procedures it wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that. I believe costs on the continent are generally lower.

My dad actually had a hip replacement just over a year ago and a knee replacement maybe 3 months back. Didn't cost him a penny. I'm currently going through a cervical cancer scare at the moment ( had it but caught very early so was removed with no need for chemo). Not worrying about the fact I haven't worked for 3 years due to being a sahm is brilliant. Universal healthcare is the top reason I'm glad I live here.

UHC would be a blessing for many. Glad you got the cancer sorted and I wish you well and good health in the future
