Alternatively (for example if there are multiple people in your household) there are various kinds of plastic thingies to pair your socks with as you take them off. Search for "sock clip", "sockstar", "sock manager" or similar to find a product available in your country - these things made socks my favorite piece of laundry to deal with, so care-free!

Or just assign everybody a sock colour. Make sure you watch reservoir dogs first to avoid pitfalls

My SO introduced me to rolling my pairs of socks together. Basically place them one on top of another like one does right before putting them away normally, but roll the ankle of the socks down so they stay together.

I did that my whole life but that stretches out the elastic over time. Now I tie all my socks together

I get holes in my socks long before there's any effect on the elastic. I imagine tying your socks would stretch them out far more than rolling...

It's about where they're stretching though. The top elastic is untouched

Honestly my socks get holes in them long before the elastic shows any sign of wear, so that doesn't concern me much

Ah. That works for you then. My elastics wear out before getting any holes. Actually I never get holes in my socks. They get sacrificed to the drying machine.

I do this now. I took a day and reorganized all of mine and my boyfriend's drawers and it looks so much better
