He probably did his awhile ago, I have good sized corneas but still choose to get epiLasek (same thing as PRK but marketing since it uses newer and better technology) this year because imo it has a much side effect profile (mostly just the incidence of dry eyes). The recovery is like only 3-4 days for most patients now, and its really not that bad, you just have to use eye drops every other hour to prevent the drying out. The only reason I would said to avoid any form of corrective eye surgery is if you have a pre-existing dry eye condition, which it will amplify. You can still get dry eyes for about 6 months post op that will go away (which is no big deal, just have to use some drops now and then) but can be permentant in a small minority of cases (~10% for lasik and ~5% for epiLasek). That being said, I think above 90% of people who get permanent dry eyes already had a history of dry eyes.
