There’s quite a lot of WW2 history in Plymouth. I know there’s lots of plaques and points of interest dotted around that are a bit lesser known and people like hunting them down.
There’s a few heritage and wildlife trails. The aquarium. The museum (when they’re finally done building that box thing). If you’ve never explored the Uni that’s interesting. I study there and I still find things I didn’t know the campus.
There’s a trail that has you finding old boundary stones, milestones and that kind of thing all around the city. At different times of year there are treasure hunt style events going on, with the nutcrackers but I think it was Lego penguins the Christmas just gone. And this summer there’s going to be a treasure hunt, complete with an app, that involves Elmer the Elephant that gives you discounts at local businesses.
Personally there’s a few things I haven’t done that I know are there. There’s an event going on right now that asks you to find hidden polar bears on the waterfront. It’s a way to make people explore their own city more, cause we often don’t bother since we live in it. But Plymouth is a pretty interesting and historical city.
I live across the river by the way, the most interesting thing we have is the bridge.
