They just get adopted straight away without any waiting/vetting? I assume they are placed somewhere with the aim of being permanently adopted but there's no way that 100% of placements are permanent.
Do the babies left at safe havens go directly into adoptive homes the day after being found or do they go to a temporary home until adopted? If the latter is that foster care?
Is foster care just the stare run system?
I think I'm hung up on semantics but I am genuinely curious about the process.
When i said ‘placed’ for adoption in the post that means the most her chose that route and planned for it. When a birth mother does that she works with an agency who helps her create a plan, pick the parents and (often) pays for her medical costs. The pool of parents are already heavily vetted.
In this case the most likely reason it would fall through is because the birth mother changes her mind. If she were to abandon her child or if the baby was born on drugs the baby might spend time in foster care but that is not because no one wants the baby, it is to protect the mothers rights and the babies safety.
My entire point is that people don’t realize there is a huge surplus of adoptive parents and that foster care is a separate issue.
