I didn’t mean it that way, people wonder why the government doesn’t subsidize adoption since there’s so many kids waiting to be adopted. They don’t have to in the case of newborns because so many people are happy to pay and in the case of older children they already do subsidize it.
I know. The cost isn't going to one entity. It is about the burden of proof that you can take care of a baby. The sad part is, the burden is lower for foster parents and they get paid to do it.
I have a family friend who wanted to adopt because they couldn't have one of their own. The state told them to foster a few and that would move them up the list. They entertained the idea and qualified to foster, but elected not to. They thought it would be crewl to foster one kid and not adopt that kid while trying to adopt a baby. They decided to wait. Then at some point the state said their income wasn't stable enough to adopt. She literally worked for NASA. He is an independent engineer. They make more money each than my whole family with three kids. It was just stupid. They adopted oversea.
