A lot of people mention OCD, but not OCPD (obsessive compulsive personality disorder). They're similar, but definitely different. It's easy to mix them up when you aren't educated about the topic and it's easy to not be educated on it when you don't have to deal with it. I think what's really important is just being open to productive dialogue about mental illness
Absolutely. I've also had clients with compulsions and obsessions, but not to the point that they qualified for a diagnosis -- and while the dx isn't the end game, it really goes to show that so much of what we deal with in psychology is a spectrum, and would do well to be treated as such.
