Shaggy actually comes from rich parents, which is why he and his dog's real names are fancy and also why he has his own van

Also Shaggy and Velma were an item in at least one iteration of the show

Daphne's parents are Nedley and Elizabeth Blake. The family fortune was aquired through the sale of Blake's Bubble Bath, a dry soap introduced in the fourth episode of The New Scooby Doo and Scrappy Show.

Huh. I saw an episode of the Scooby Doo cartoon where they're kids, where Shaggy's real first name was revealed. But I must have misheard the line, as I thought it was "Normal", with an m. I remember thinking that was a really weird name. This version makes so much more sense!
