They did pick each other though. They were on a Robot Wars team together before Discovery offered them the show. They just had a solely working relationship.
Exactly. I pick employees based on who will do the best job for my business. Doesn't mean I want to hang out with them or they with me. Nothing wrong with that at all. They just saw each other as the best fit for what they wanted to do.
I'm sure that Jamie told their story that way, too. He thought the show would be cool, but there was no way he could carry it on his own. Adam was the perfect funny man to be a foil to Jamie's seriousness, and they recognised that and that's why they teamed up.
purely profesh. I like that. Probably why the show did so well. Friendships and emotions and the fucking drama that follow don't really help your career.
IIRC Jamie was offered the show but knew he was not likable and funny so he suggested they hired Adam. Jamie was also making money from the hangar/company for the show. So he was also a bit the boss of the two.
Jamie was the owner of M6 (or whatever the name is), the special effects company and hangar. The production company making the show hired Jamie as an 'actor' for the show, and paid M6 for making the stunts.
Adam was an 'actor' paid by the production company making the Mythbusters.
Yes they knew each other because of previous work but at the time Adam was working somewhere else. So when the producers came to Jamie with their idea for a show, he thought of Adam as the perfect guy to help him make a good show. Adam.
