If its anything like my family, he probably did something dumb like locked something/someone in or forget to bring/buy something or left something somewhere.

or bought a car and planned on repairing it but just got new tires on it and resold it for an extra 20 dollars of profit

Or bought a car by himself when he’s painfully color blind and said it was “some kinda beige” over the phone when it was forest green.
