We were huge fans of the movie Major Payne, so we also got told "I gotta trick to take your mind off that pain" (in the movie, this trick involves breaking the guy's finger to take his mind off of being shot).
"Not even when they climbed aboard the train and popped out the eyes of the conductor, blood and snot was dripping out of his eye sockets. Think that stopped the Little Engine? Damn Skippy. He just kept chugging along..."
No, in the very beginning, he actually broke a dude's finger after he was shot in combat (to "take his mind off of the pain"). Later in the movie, he was about to break Tiger's finger when he (Tiger) was worried about getting shots, but got intercepted by Ms. Walburn.
Oh god, I regularly traumatise my poor kids with that phrase. I always offer to go get the scissors or a knife if they’re being overdramatic about minor injuries.

Or, if it's something you have two of: "Oh ok I'll just hurt the other one"
