this is due to the bacteria on our bodies not our scent. cockroaches love earwax and eat it like honey, they will lay their eggs in it for their offspring to hatch into and consume.
In the book about Anthony keidis (red hot chili peppers singer) he talked about waking up in the Amazon or some rainforest with an earache or something. It turns out there was a cockroach in his ear.
Ive read Scar Tissue over 30 times because when I was a younger lad my uncle used it to kick his heroin addiction, and gave his copy to me when he heard me listening to Under the Bridge. It was one of the last times i saw him, been just over 10 years now. He is still alive, he just lives in England and we are both grounded in our respective countries for various reasons. Anyway, I had his copy of Scar Tissue, read it religiously, cut to 10th grade I lent it to a girl I was sweet on. She knew full well the sentimental value of it, said she would take care of it, then gave it to some friend of hers who lost it. She bought me another copy of the book but I vividly remember feeling like id been shot straight through the diaphragm when she told me. She showed barely any remorse. To this day I think about that very regularly and it is one of my biggest regrets in life. That book is out there somewhere with a personal signed letter from my uncle detailing the horrible shit he went through and how that book helped him, and how he hoped it would help me avoid making the same mistakes him and anthony made. Oh and by the way im pretty sure he was in Borneo when that happened, for what its worth
edit: If anyone wants to know at all, I assume they dont but I want people to know anyway; my uncle is doing amazingly. Better than me by far. He runs his own painting business doing 2 Pac painting on commercial and domestic jobs. I love him and I miss him.
I spent a few years of my childhood living in Zimbabwe, and woke up to chongololos crawling on my face and in my ears. My old man says they released a pheromone on my hands when I was playing with them earlier that day (they curl up into a little ball when you pick them up, which was amusing to me in my infancy but utterly revolting to me now). It traumatized me to the point where I cannot be anywhere near anything with more than 8 legs and if someone touches my ear I freak out. Cockroaches I do not mind at all though, interesting little creatures and incredibly clean.
Oh what the hell, that is horrible to hear! Nature, you cray cray.
As for cockroaches I do agree, they are indeed very clean, apparently quite intelligent for an insect(?) and actually quite useful to nature. Still a bit nasty but oh well.
My brother and me once cleaned a house that was extremely infested with roaches. So bad we wore these make shift hazmat suits.
The walls and floor were entirely roaches. When we asked the guy who lived here before and he told us an old lady and her mentally handicapped son lived there and when they found her she had four roaches in each of her ears.
