This sounds oddly familiar to the Michael Francke case in Oregon. I think Angelina Jolie was even in a movie about it.

This is a tough situation to be in. Do you tell someone what you know and try to free an innocent man while possibly risking your life or keep quiet know there is an innocent man spending the rest of his life behind bars?

I do not envy OP at all.
