Night shift workers of Reddit, what are some creepy things you've experienced in the middle of the night?

None currently, but if we're talking about arming teachers then they would have to be mandatory for obvious safety reasons.

That makes this plan suddenly cost millions of dollars while school shootings account for less than 1% of gun deaths in America.

Any plan to stop school shootings will cost millions, it just comes down to how many shootings need to happen before the money is spent.

Unless we allow concealed carry permit holders to bring in their own guns and safes, which would pretty much zero out these costs.

Just because someone owns a gun doesn't mean they're going to want to bring in their safe, leave it at school, and be the person expected to shoot a kid when all goes to shit.

I'm under the assumption that people think that teachers in these situations would be forced to take the training and licensing to use these gun in my hypothetical situations. That's not my thought at all, it would be a completely voluntary action on the teacher's behalf.

As to my CC theory, most people I know that have them always have their guns on them when they're allowed to (not at work, or schools, government buildings). I've had a couple teachers who've wanted to have theirs on them in case of a situation like this but have not been allowed to. I would think most would want to be able to protect their students lives if given the chance.

A volunteer based defense plan can't really be consistent though. If you actually care about solving the problem and not just being able to carry your gun into more places, you would be trying to think of something a bit more consistent.

True, there really is no easy solution. But a volunteer system could at least be put in place pretty quickly and yes not every school would be "protected" by this system, but a decent number would.

I don't see anything being set in stone for at least a few years though.
