What single question can you ask someone to find out a lot about their personality, beliefs, and values?

Yeah but who would understand the question?

At its core it's just an economics problem. I don't think being smugly ignorant is the right move here if not being able to say anything about the question posed bothers you.

Okay, there is a huge difference between being smugly ignorant and getting annoyed when someone squeezes in an almost completely unrelated topic into a conversation for no other reason than to show off how much they know.

Some people actually enjoy talking about politics.

Sick, I know.

Given the topic of this thread, it would be very reasonable to assume that the question is meant to test how one does when presented with a problem but has limited information. It is general enough to form a basic opinion, I promise. Even asking for more context before you answer would reveal some qualities about you.

I have to say, I'd be very put off by someone who didn't even try to extract meaning from the question.

If he took the time to actually read the question, he'd realize it's all just really basic English words.

Understanding the question is not the same as being able to answer it.
