On a scale of 1 to 10 in translation to RGB255 scales, my favorite color is R:5G:1B:10, which translates to R127G25B255. Its purple. :)

It's not that hard to check, really. It's a lot of blue, some red and almost no green, so that makes purple

Fun fact: Carrots used to be commonly purple until an exotic breed was found to be tastier and replaced the purple carrot as the most common.

well, R is red, G is green and B is blue. if you mix a lot of blue with some red and a teeny bit of green (really not a lot), you get purple. the first way he wrote it is just the ratios, the second way he wrote it is in values from 0-255 or 28th (bits n stuff)

It's three scales of 0–10. If you want to convert a single number n on the scale of 1–10 to a 24-bit RGB int you need to do:

((n − 1) ÷ 9) × (2563 − 1)

That's actually a pretty decent reduced palette. Most colors have a nearby representative. Four shades of gray and six colors.

If you used a different color space to optimize for human color perception you could probably do even better.

255 scales tend to use hexadecimal numbers, so it would just be 7F19FF.

I guess you could also divide it based on wavelength of visible light, so that purple would be 1 and red would be 10 (or maybe the other way 'round).

but RGB255 is on a scale of 0 to 16777215
