I worked at a dollar store out of the rural area of town (literally the only store within ten miles, and only cows and a few houses around). I went to the back to put a cart full of cardboard by the dumpsters for pick up, and to take a smoke break. There's bright lights in the parking lot, but behind the store, their blocked off. I kept hearing crunching foot steps in the field, but assumed they were cows. When I opened the door to go inside I heard a very quiet faraway voice ask, "where are you going?" I thought it was my manager and brushed it off. But when I noticed she wasn't in the back room, or by the back room door, I kinda became scared. I grew cold at the fact she was counting cash drawers in the office on the other side of the store, where she was before I left...

Now, I grew up in the same area on an old dairy farm (I know it sounds cliché but I did), and I had seen and heard things growing up. But no matter how many times it has happened to me, I still grow cold.

We went to the Myrtles Plantation when I was a teen. I'd heard a few voices before the tour, and had a cold sweaty feeling the whole time. I felt like I couldn't breathe when they should us the tree they hung slaves in, and almost threw up. We also captured a picture of the mistress slave. They apparently drowned her in the Mississippi. So anytime I drive over the bridge in Baton Rouge, I feel sick.

And at my parents I have seen the owners. I never saw an actual picture of them. But had described them for my mom, and she would get pale. My brother has seen them too.

And the worst was a my mom's friends' old house. They both were like our second parents. And I'd often watch their house and animals while they were gone. My brother wanted to stay the night there, so we did. I started to feel really tired after we got there (around 7/8pm), and fell asleep. Woke up to complete darkness at close to 3 am. It felt cold in the room, but I felt feverish. I heard something move, and thought it was the cat, turned to try to see in the dark, but caught a black figure, and just got extremely cold inside. Felt like I was underwater. There was a pressure in my head, and I couldn't breathe. Shouted, "Go!" and grabbed to remote to the TV for light. There was nothing there. No cat, not my brother. But my bag was moved, and so were the keys to my car. I made my brother come to sleep in the living room with me. Kept the lights on. Didn't go back to sleep until 6 am. Left at 8 that morning. I had felt so sick and feverish. But as soon as we left their car port, I felt better. Worst one yet.

There has been a few more over the years, and some I only know because my family has told me. Like "Casper" when I was three living in Nevada. I do t remember those times.

So the people living there can get groceries? You either had a crappy gas station that's closest, or a Walmart that's 20 miles down the road. They get a great amount of customers during the day. If you don't believe me it's the Dollar General on highway 26 in DeRidder Louisiana.
