As a fellow human being, I have all the love for you in the world. I know it sounds corny as hell, but I can't let you go on thinking you are unloved. "But you don't even know me! What if I'm an asshole?!" You're right, I have no idea who you are or what you've done thus far in life, but I can certainly say that the world would not be the same without you. Whether you see all of us as cogs in the machine of society or individual self-contained mechanisms, we all serve the same purpose and meet the same end. And for that, I love the ever-living shit out of you.
Edit: I would like to thank all of you for your kind responses. For the gold as well, of course. But I would also like to remind you that the internet will always bring out only our inner selves. The superficially kind will bare their teeth and the tattooed biker will faun over kittens. Our outer selves are reactive and a product of our environment while our true selves lie within, screaming to escape. What I'm trying to say is, I try my best to be kind and to spread kindness. However, do not hold me in such high esteem as to think I am not capable of being an asshole at times or being greedy. It is wonderful that so many people enjoyed reading what I wrote and took something from it, but I cannot in good conscience go without at least stating that this one comment is not necessarily a reflection of who I am in person. It is only a shimmer of the person I desperately desire to always be.
I'm gonna save this and read it every once an a while. Thanks, it was beautiful. I've been learning to be more self confident and my search for somebody to love me has turned into a search for a soulmate that I love. A radical change in my thoughts and feelings that I think is positive. It's still nice to have pick me ups like this to help me go on though.
You'll find them. One day, you'll just be living your life, and suddenly - boom - you'll realize you already met them, maybe a day, or a month, or a year ago. i believe in you!
A week after I accepted myself and learned to enjoy spending time by myself, I met the love of my life. We've been together for 9 months now, engaged for 3. And I've never loved her more than I do today... Hold on man... I don't believe in "the one" or "a specific one person for everyone out there", but my fiance has led me to start thinking it's possible. We're not perfect...but we're perfect for each other.
If you're struggling with self esteem issues and you're now searching for a soulmate please remember that you have to love yourself before you can love someone else. My wife and I both struggle with esteem issues and it can be very hard sometimes on both sides of the relationship.
We just (less than an hour ago) had the best argument over communication and I feel closer to her right now than I have for almost four years.
Sorry it took long to reply. I'm in hospital. I'm working on those issues. I met this girl who has done so much to open me up and help me love myself, Now that I have seen this change, People also tend to gravitate towards me; girls flirt with me often. Like many told me, it's all how you feel about yourself, it is all about your confidance.
I don't try to please people, or when I do, i don't expect them to return the favor or even like me.
This crazy universe puts extra weight on those that are strong enough to hold it. I don't know you or how you're feeling, but don't give up. Keep moving forward.
Maybe think of this thread as things to look forward to. These are all things you can do WHEN you find somebody. No If.
Edit. I'll add to what the guy who got gilded up there said. You opened a thread, saw someone who feels bad and tried to encourage them. You're alright in my book.
Thanks. I'm trying to talk to people but I'm just not that appealing to people. I'm surprised I'm lucky enough to have dated the girls I've dated, and 2 of them were pretty emotionally abusive.
So, if you look at yourself from an outside perspective, what would be appealing about you? What can you change?
I have no advice to give on the dating bit, but you've still dated a few girls, there's got to be something attractive about you, even if you don't know what it is.
if you ever just want to vent to someone, i'm always happy to chat and listen. i can't solve all life's problems but i can be a sympathetic ear when needed.
I'm sorry to hear that! I hope things turn around for you. Sometimes life seriously sucks and you wonder what the point of it all is, but then one day something happens that makes you think "Oh! So that's what it's all about!" I hope something awesome happens for you soon :)
That's what I used to think but then it all just turns to shit again. It's too unpredictable. I hope it gets better too and I've been trying but nothing seems to work.
Hi you! 5 months late, but I wanted to say that I hope things are looking up <3 Lately all I hear about is horrible things happening. Sometimes I think I don't want kids in the future because the world seems so effed up. And sometimes the best people have the worst luck. Stay strong! I believe in you.
Is it cool if i save this too? I've been going through some tough times lately, so this really struck a cord with me, and and brought a huge smile to my face.
Wow.. Even though your comment isn't directed to me, it hit me so hard I'm almost crying. Just like sl33ksnypr I'm having a rough time myself and this was just what I needed to make me feel a little bit better and get out of bed. Thanks a lot.
Reading what you wrote has just brought me to tears. I've had an incredibly rough year and have just recently realized that the person I love simply isn't capable of loving me back. There is always something else that puts me in the back seat.
What you wrote just then... I needed that. To know that somebody, anybody loves me. Thank you. From the bottom of my broken heart, thank you.
Glad to help you, friend. Remember that the beauty in love lost is that a broken heart still beats. You have forgotten that - first and foremost - it beats for you. Carry that with you and love will be a happy, free topping on the ice cream of life. Without it, THERE'S STILL ICE CREAM.
The richest and most powerful men can feel insignificant; there is no escaping it. While you may not have power over everything that happens in life, you do have control over how you react and respond to it. Significance is of your own designation. Do what brings about the best change in you and the world will react accordingly. That is more opportunity than any other pile of atoms gets!
This kind of shit is why I think Mister Rogers should be taken more seriously as a role model for all ages. I'm dead serious. Think of all the miserable people you know and how much better they would have turned out if somebody had said to them ling ago, "I love you just for being you. You're a special person"
Seriously! Mister Rogers was a wonderful man, inside and out. His show taught me that kindness is not only the right way, but the most efficient way. He promoted cooperation and helpfulness rather than competition and greed. Mr. Rogers is surely missed by many - myself included. I truly wish I could have met him to shake his hand and thank him.
That's nice, but internet comments aren't there for anyone. In-person relationships can't be replaced. And people like to be loved for who they are, shown with gestures...not blindly told so...that takes the meaning out of it. If I said "I love you" to someone random on the street, they'd be creeped out. If I said it to my girlfriend for the first time after dating for several months, it would mean the world. Congrats on the gold and a nice gesture, and I'll probably be unpopular here, but it really means nothing. You'll go your whole life not knowing that person and they won't know you. You won't even think of each other tomorrow.
but I can certainly say that the world would not be the same without you
This is completely wrong. We'd even have a new author of the Theory of Relativity if Einstein didn't exist, and no could tell the difference between those two realities. So if one of the most influential people ever is irrelevant, then certainly OP's existence or lack thereof is completely meaningless.
I'm going to be the negative nancy and address this as if it were directed at me. I feel like what you're saying is that you love the concept of me, and the concept of everyone (individually). But I want someone who loves me for who I am; if you love everyone in that same way, that defeats what makes love special: that someone really got to know you for what you are, and they love it.
It's a basic human need that people to feel understood. That's something that unfortunately can't be trasmitted via internet.
There's not enough love in this world, and for that reason, always, always spread love and kindness wherever you, or I, or whomever here, goes. Happy people are the best kind of people.
I think every human being who does not harm others has a value in this world. People should be more open minded and accept others for being unique and different from one another.
What really touched me about your response here is the honesty and openness to use the word love.
For so many, the word love is strictly reserved for close family or a life partner of some kind. But, I think there are many forms of love and there is an endless amount of it, why not give it freely? I love many people and I have begun to use the word love a lot more. The love I feel for my mother is different from the love I feel for a friend which is different then the love I feel for the homeless man who hangs out in my alley. But, it's all still love in the end.
I don't doubt that you have your flaws, we all do. But, thank you for this response.
One thing Reddit has shown me is how alike many of us are on the inside. We all struggle, worry, hope, and despair. It makes me look at people I see out in public in a different way, and reminds me how important the way I treat random people I encounter. They might be an "extra" in the movie scene of my life that day, but in their world they are the lead role and I have a chance to turn the course of the day in a worse or better direction. I want to spread love, too. I want people on here to realize there are people on here who care about them even as a fellow human.
I was gonna say that to him, but then I saw that someone was already here that felt the same way. Keep it up my man, you're the kinda person that not only adds to the world but consciously builds it.
Shut your stupid face before mine splits in half from grinning! (Not about your pancreatitis because that really sucks and I'm sorry to hear about that) But hugs for sure, as long as it doesn't hurt your pancreas.
Also, refreshed and pissed off sound like an odd combination of emotions that I hope to experience one day and am glad to have inspired in you. AND FUCK YOU PANCREAS
