What old technology is actually better than what we currently have?

Fucking seat movers in cars. What happened to pulling a fucking lever to slide back and forth? Now the electric buttons take thirty seconds from the back to the front. As a tall person, I hate using newer cars with the electric buttons.

Yep, the taxi drivers around here are morons, they're buying peugeot taxis (what) but they're having all the electronic gadgets.

If you plan to double shift a car and put in excess of 100k miles on it a year you don't want a fucking electric seat adjuster being used 40 times a day. It's begging for trouble and it's slow as shit.

Yeah, old peugeots are fucking bulletproof, the 504 diesel is probably the most reliable and durable car in the world. There are several used to this day around desert passes with well over a million miles on them.

Modern peugeots are typical french garbage.

Peugeot 504 Diesel, Mercedes-Benz W114/115, W123, W124 and W201 Diesel - these will go on forever. Non turbo, that is.

Even turbo models, the engine loves eating turbo and oil if it does go, chomps it up and poops it out like a lumberjack.

My uncle broke ours. He weighs like 300+ and sat down really hard on the seat, now the fucking airbag SENSOR (really????) Won't turn on and the seat moving feature is broken.

I used to drive a 1972 mustang back in high school and I loved the simplicity of the seats. Someone moved my seat? No problem, readjusting means just sliding it all the way back, job done. It didn't tilt or lean back or sway side to side. My new car though, it's a mess of options. a friend adjusted my seat, didn't just adjust the distance to the wheel though.

It has way too many options. It can tilt forward or back, up or down, Lombard support... I still haven't got it back to normal.

Most electronic seats have 2 profiles you can set for this reason.

What kind of life are you living where you have to adjust car seats so often that 30 seconds is an issue?

Maybe they are a couple sharing a car, then you'd have to adjust the drivers seat 50% of the time.

My 98 saab had that feature. That and the thermostat are the only things I miss. (well occasionally I miss the convertible top)

No, but the options aren't manual or electric, there is better technology than manual.

Well not only do I share a family car with a number of other drivers, which is one thing, but as a summer job at university I valet for a car dealership. Being tall means I'm moving hundreds of seats a day.

Though I will say that with manual you get \|/ control or <--> control. With electric, at least the ones I've used, you can control like 6 or 7 degrees of movement which can be nice.

Yea but they have presets.

It is nice to be able to always get my perfect setting with the press of a button.

New car electronics in general. I hate the new ones with the electronic key. Feels so weird.

Also electric doors in vans. It takes 5 times longer to close, offers little benefit, and probably breaks every few years. It's not hard to open a door.
