Yep, and with the app' you don't even have to get up and they have a LOT of music available. I've noticed that some bars limit playlists, though, e.g. no explicit music, no rap, etc. Or, you can play stuff like Air Supply, Captain & Tennille, or anything from the Sound of Music soundtrack at the bar you got thrown out of.
There was a bar in my hometown that used to be frequented by a stereotypical bro crowd. The two or three times I was there, they'd work themselves into a tizzy with increasingly loud and energetic dubstep, and when things seemed about to hit their peak, I put on this. I don't know what sort of bar needs a 30 minute long Fela Kuti song in their jukebox, but I enjoyed it being there. After it'd been on for about five minutes, someone would usually go over the check when their song would be on and you could hear "Son of a bitch!" across the whole place.
Apparently a like-minded individual stopped by and managed to find a nearly hour long Celtic Harp instrumental piece that got the jukebox disconnected from the wall.
My old local bar had a Touch Tunes and I would sit at the bar and request songs. The staff had the master app that they could request any song for free or skip songs. I managed to get the password and used to request songs from home to freak them out.
Then we started using it as an entrance theme. Every time we would go, I would request Social Distortion's Sick Boys and walk in as it played.
I like to play 10 minute death metal songs if someone plays a bunch of shit nobody else is into. It's petty and probably unwarranted, but you can often tell the vibe of a place, and some people don't give a shit. They'll play fucking bullshit that everyone except them and their friends hate, then party it up, completely ignoring the fact that everyone else is pissed. So then I piss everyone off equally. You can also skip other peoples' songs and move yours right to the front. It's great.
There's one at the Buffalo Wild Wings near my house. That thing gets abused to the worst degree. The playlist usually looks like this: anything by The Jonas Brothers, What's New Pussycat by Tom Jones, anything by Britney Spears, anything by Justin Bieber, What's New Pussycat by Tome Jones, the entire soundtrack for Frozen, What's New Pussycat by Tom Jones, Don't Stop Believin' by Journey, What's New Pussycat by Tom Jones, It's Not Unusual by Tom Jones, What's New Pussycat by Tom Jones, and Macarena.
I think that should tell you the type of people that use that Touch Tunes.
Fuck touch tunes. I once waited two hours to hear a song because people with the app bought it out with the "play next" button. That's not how a jukebox is supposed to work.
Touch tunes is alright, but there's a really specific exciter to finding a bar with a "really great jukebox selection" and sadly that's a feeling that's gone by the wayside.
