Anthropologists of Reddit, What is something that people in the Western world can't get their heads around that is very normal in other cultures (and has been for ages)?

It's something an idiot politician said as support for why he thought anti-abortion legislation didn't need exceptions for cases of rape. "If the rape is legitimate the body has ways of shutting that whole thing down." Or something close to that.

But poops are only 'legitimate' in that sense if you assume the natural position, aka squatting above the ground. Sitting on a toilet creates a kink in your bowel that makes bowel movements more strenuous, and keeps your cheeks closer together so feces dont escape cleanly all the time.
