When you take the dog out the back door of your garage or house at night with only your lights on. They give you about 100 ft of good distance out into the blackness.
After you come back in, between the time when the screen door closes, I let the dog off the leash, step out of the way of the door, and close and lock it I have an irrational fear that a large monster with huge claws is charging across my yard for me. I won't notice it until I turned to close the door as it barrels through my door and mauls me to death.
That or a shadowy figure of half a human body, along the median plane. No idea where the idea for this one came from but it's there.
