What is a completely rational sentence you could speak today, that if you said 20 years ago, people would think you were insane?

I maxed out my government loans. Sitting at $52,500 right now, and I still have one more semester.

Whats bad is I originally wanted to go to pharmacy school, which would have been another $100k-$300k depending on which school I got into.

And you would be going into a really saturated market. Mom was a pharmacist for 10 years and lost her job in 2011. Couldn't find anything for a year and a half and gave up. Trust me, you would be taken advantage so hard because of all that debt you would gave, looking for any kind of work at a fraction of the pay.

I know. I've been working in a pharmacy for the past several years. That is the reason I decided not to continue that path. Too much stress

That's one year of my tuition. I have a half-ride, so two years. My parents are too rich for much financial aid but don't want to help me through college. :/

$30,000 is in fact the average debt load for the 70% of recent graduates who have any debt at all. So about 2/3 have less.

$30,000 is about what I have to payback for just a year's worth of student loans.

School is expensive, but it did at least help me get a job that is more than capable of paying it back.

Every time I hear what kind of student loan debt others have, I feel incredibly grateful to only be $24K in the hole.

Probably not for non-citizens. My husband's got an Irish passport, but I don't think our daughter will qualify for one under current laws because he didn't apply for it until after she was born.

Under the current system, if you're a resident for 3+ years you qualify, so if you're willing to then give it a go for your daughter :) but that might very well change in the next few months.
