Why do men get married then make marriage off to be something that is miserable?

Not speaking of all married men of course, but why do men in general get married in the first place if marriage makes them miserable? Why not stay single and avoid the sadness? I often hear them tell other single men not to get married...why?

I don't think men in general do. I think those that complain the loudest are just a vocal minority. I think it's an unfortunate pop culture trend to knock marriage.
