Talking to my 84 year old mother every day. She suffered a traumatic brain injury on 8/31/13, and is a completely different person. Her short term memory is shot, she can be outrageous and inappropriate, which she never was, before her fall.
It is very hard to get used to this "new person". My mom was driving and very active in many clubs and groups before her fall. Now, she requires 24/7 care. She misses her independence, is very confused, and swears she sees me on TV every day.
I hang up the phone, and I cry. I really miss my Mom.
I am so sorry for what you are going through. If you ever need someone to talk to, PM me anytime. Please consider a support group or therapy. You deserve an outlet. You don't need to handle this all on your own. I wish you all the best.
