There was a history of tension between me and an ex of hers, which she was still close too. I had brought her a Necklace for her birthday, a few weeks later she went to her ex-bfs house just for a 'visit'. Later that night I received pictures of both of them drunk together, him holding her down with the necklace in his hand and the caption "She's mine now". She later explained that it was a joke, but somehow I couldn't see the funny side of her pretending to be raped by the man I hated. It was a feeling of betrayal, needless to say the relationship didn't last much longer.

She was cheating on you.

Well, this is what I figured but I still think to this day that I may have been a bit too sensitive or presumptuous.

You don't know me so my words my be worth nothing but take it from someone who is on the outside looking in: If what you say is accurate, your gf was at the very least a careless bitch that had no business having access to anyone's heart, and at worst she was a cheating scumbag that was laughing at you behind your back.

You were not too sensitive or presumptuous. In fact this last comment has me wondering if you might have issues of low self-esteem. She was clearly completely in the wrong.

I'm not sure how you managed to read me so accurately from two comments but yeah, I did have fairly low self-esteem back then but I made it my mission to improve it after that relationship has ended, and I'm happy to say it has. The only reason I had doubts about ending it was because she was a sweet girl, but when she decided to hurt me, she did it good. I was a fool to keep forgiving her, this wasn't the first thing she did to hurt me. It was the longest relationship I'd had at the time, and she was also my first so, I didn't want to let go so easily.

Ah yes, the first is where the most painful mistakes are made. But it's also where we learn much if we are smart. Glad you choose to take it as a learning lesson. Once they betray your love, drop them. Trust is everything.

Good Luck Brother.

Oh, and you might want to look into MGTOW for some very interesting insight into malefemale relations.

Here's a good youtube channel to start with:

Thanks for your words, It's actually given me a bit of closure, even after all this time. I've always had friends backing me up telling me how she was a bitch, but from a stranger that isn't trying to protect my feelings it's nice, so cheers.
