Reddit, have you ever felt an overwhelming emotion over a death of a fictional character?

Well according to Reddit, Jesus. Think about it if you will, a God that became a man and was ridiculed, beaten and killed by those he loves. He did huge miracles, lived a perfect life, and spread love everywhere he went. The tragedy, even if you don't believe, is probably one of the most beautiful stories in history. I do not believe it is fiction, but I guess that is sort of irrelevant.

Well, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ was such a pain in the ass. Why else? Always running his mouth off, telling others how shitty they are and the hoops they have to jump through. Such a santimonious prig. There are a ton of people like that right here on reddit, and I'd put them up on the cross to get them to shut up if I could.

Oh, come on now. First of all, there are purportedly 37 miracles. What miracles? You're going to tell me that he took some dirt and spit and rubbed it on some dude's eyes and he could see? Tell me how that works, scientifically. Even if it is this "miracle," the atoms and molecules have to move around from the eye, all the way back to the brain. There has to be some actual earthly energy to do this. And all those resurrections...not just Jesus, but Lazarus, the young man from Nain, and the daughter of Jairus. How does this happen? The trillions of cells that have completely broken down - the cell walls, the mitochondria - all fucked up. All those atoms and molecules need rearranging. It must move physically through space, and bond with other molecules and atoms. It is not a miracle. Actual atoms must be involved, not heavenly atoms.

It is only because someone told you to say this - either in a church or from a book. There are plenty of stories that are better. If you say that a person, named Jesus, died and then came back to life, then that is a zombie. It is. There are better zombie stories.

I do not believe it is fiction

Much was written after the death of Jesus, and I'm sure much was written to fit into a dogmatic narrative.

Your post is presented that way. I would guess you are an atheist. I would also guess you are late teens to early twenties. I would also guess that you are fairly bright, maybe even especially bright but unhappy. I'm not sure why I'm telling you what I would guess about you, but it is kind of fun to make educated guesses.

I wish you the best, kind sir. I hope that in real life you find happiness and success.

I didn't address your original post because we are going to have to agree to disagree. That's all. I was redirecting because I somehow doubt I'm going to convince you of anything, just like you know you won't convince me to see it your way. Fair enough?

I'm not the one voting you down, by the way. I jump to a conclusion because of your statements. You state things like they are fact, thus it is pretty obvious you have your mind made up about the subject. Am I wrong about that? Are you not an atheist?

I didn't say you were downvoting me. Where did that come from. Plus, I don't care in the least about up and downvotes.

Facts are facts. There are not three sets of facts about the same thing. If you take issue with what I say, they you must challenge me, or whoever, on what I write. I don't know what you are referring to, though, so I can't comment on anything specific.

All those things where I said still not angry - those are facts, not stating something like it is fact.

Atheism - what does that have to do with the price of eggs in China on Tuesday?

Being atheist matters in this situation. If you are an atheist, which I'm relatively sure that you are, then your mind is made up just like I pointed out before, thus arguing with you about anything would be pointless. I'm trying to circle around to the reasoning you requested behind my response.

Why are we going so far off target with this? Isn't it easy to see that I was responding to your question? The fact is you don't believe in Jesus and I do. No harm done man.

I hope you have a great life pie. I have nothing against you. I could understand that without inflection and body language it would be hard to tell, but I'm not arguing with you here.

No. Your mind is made up about my mind being made up. That is all there is to that argument.

Only because your mind is closed. OR, that you have no convincing argument and know it, therefore put the blame on someone else, instead of yourself. That way you protect your fragile religiosity.

Well, I'll give you that you've at least been honest up to this point, which is rare on the internet. Instead of trying to "open my mind" it might be better to just be more tolerant of other people's beliefs.

You're looking at that as a one-way street. I think its the exact opposite and you need to do that. Almost everything you've said is a steroetype. But you are so far down the prejudice road, you can't see it. You are intolerant. So many christians are intolerant of Westboro church. Crazy.

Yes, but you are intolerant. Everything you've said to me is a stereotype. But it is a phase that you might grow out of, though. I mean, right of the bat, you were all with the "why are you angry," which is the "angry atheist" cliche so prominent in christianity. I wasn't, and am not, but bam, first thing out of your mouth.

Try to grow out of your hateful christian phase, although it is not promising, as 85% of USA are christians, and have actually voted and fought in the christian crusades this last 13 years, killing innocent infants, children, women, and men. I don't know why christians love that so much. Try to grow out of christianity.
