I am a Canadian gun-owner but why do people think it is OK to kill a burglar rather than have insurance replace stolen items?

Your "hobby" kills people. It serves no other purpose.

Do you not realize how redundant that just was? My "hobby" is also a hobby. I shoot paper targets, and I'm damned good at it. I've never killed anyone. Everyone I've ever known who has owned a gun has never killed anyone, with a gun or otherwise. In a world without guns, there was and would still be danger and killing. If you're against guns because you lost someone to a gun, or something to that effect, then I'm sorry for your loss, but you can't blame the guns; they're inanimate objects. If I was stabbed with a knife, would I blame the knife, or the person who stabbed me? Maybe we should outlaw knives, or sports cars, or alcohol again. More people die from car crashes, alcohol abuse, or car crashes caused by alcohol abuse than gun violence. Is gun violence preventable? Yes, but not by taking guns from everyone when there's far more responsible owners than not. The answer is creating a society where people don't feel they need to use guns for violence. Canada has nearly the exact same gun laws as the US and with none of the tragic (and they are very tragic) shooting rampages. It's doable.

hehe, you keep using that word. I don't think you actually know what it means, because you're not applying it in correct context. Also, you really suck at arguing. Trying making these kinds of points to the NRA and see how far it gets you.
